The Jamaat-e-Islami has urged the international community to take necessary measures to stop what it describes as the Indian government's conspiracy to exterminate Muslims.
The party’s secretary general, Prof Mia Golam Parwar, voiced this demand in a statement issued to the media on Wednesday, reports Bangla Tribune.
Parwar strongly condemned and protested the communal clashes between Hindus and Muslims in Nagpur, Maharashtra, which erupted over demands to remove the tomb of Mughal emperor Aurangzeb.
"Aurangzeb was the greatest among the Mughal emperors of India. The demand to remove his tomb and the ensuing communal violence in Nagpur and nearby areas, leading to a curfew, is highly unjust, inhumane, and distressing."
He blamed the ruling BJP-backed organizations such as Vishva Hindu Parishad and Bajrang Dal for inciting communal riots across India. "The BJP government is responsible for these repeated communal clashes," the statement read.
Parwar further said: "Such communal actions by the BJP government completely violate human rights and religious freedoms as declared by the United Nations. The BJP is engaged in a deep-rooted conspiracy to completely eradicate over 200 million Muslims living in India."
He called upon the United Nations, the OIC, international human rights organizations, and peace-loving people worldwide to take effective steps to stop the persecution of Muslims in India.
