Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud has said that on August 5, former Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina verbally resigned to President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
Asif said: "Although she was supposed to go to Bangabhaban with her resignation letter, the killer Hasina was forced to flee when the students and people got close to Ganabhaban."
He shared this information in a post on his verified Facebook page on Monday.
Asif Mahmud made this statement in response to President Mohammad Shahabuddin's comments regarding Sheikh Hasina's resignation.
He wrote: "The tyrannical killer Hasina verbally resigned to the President. Although she was supposed to go to Bangabhaban with her resignation letter, she was forced to flee when the students and people got close to Ganabhaban."
Meanwhile, one of the coordinators of the anti-discrimination student movement, Hasnat Abdullah, claimed that the resignation letter is irrelevant since the people ousted Sheikh Hasina's government through a coup.
Hasnat Abdullah wrote: "Hasina has been ousted; the people have overthrown an illegal government through a coup. The resignation letter plays no role here."
Earlier, in a special interview with Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, the editor of the Manabzamin newspaper, President Mohammad Shahabuddin said that he heard about Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's resignation, but he has no documentary evidence or paperwork regarding this matter.
