Leaders and activists following former opposition leader Raushan Ershad have called the National Conference of Jatiya Party (JaPa) for the second time in a year on March 2.
The Jatiya Party's Raushan faction leaders and activists called the “10th national conference” of JaPa on October 30, 2022, and then withdrew from it on November 26.
Former ambassador Golam Masih was the member secretary of the conference implementation committee.
Golam Masih was not seen during the announcement of the date of the fresh conference held in the capital's Gulshan on Thursday.
Raushan faction Secretary General Kazi Mamunur Rashid, Ershad's former press secretary Sunil Shubrai, Saad Ershad MP were present.
Kazi Mamunur Rashid said: “Jatiya Party is an election-oriented party. We will participate in upazila elections on March 9. But before that, after talking to the chairman, we fixed the date of our conference.”
Those leaders who were dismissed and expelled from Jatiya Party by GM Quader have been given place in the Raushan faction, he claimed.
Jatiya Chhatra Samaj’s meeting has been called in Mohammadpur on February 3.
Golam Masih said: “I have no involvement with the process of this conference.”
Notably, with the end of Raushan Ershad's tenure as the opposition leader, Golam Masih's duty as 'Political Secretary' has also come to an end.
