BNP leaders and activists have commenced their road march from the capital's Abdullahpur area, to drive home the party's one-point demand – the ousting of the Awami League government.

The procession started at about 11:20am after a brief rally in front of Polwel Super Market in Abdullahpur at around 10:30am on Wednesday.

Senior BNP leaders including Mirza Abbas, Moyeen Khan and Amanullah Aman gave speeches there.

Moyeen said the Awami League government will be forced to resign, adding that the ruling party always brags about establishing democracy but it has "re-established Baksal in reality."

He also said if necessary, the constitution would have to be bypassed for an election under a caretaker government.

Meanwhile, Mirza Abbas said the constitution can be followed, but it has to be the one before the amendment that abolished the caretaker government system.

On attacks on party members, he warned that they would not hesitate to retaliate.

Mirza Abbas also described the Awami League's peace processions as processions of anarchy.

BNP members and supporters from different areas gathered with banners and festoons there in the morning to make the march a success.

The march that started in Abdullahpur will end at Jatrabari Chowrasta.

The rally will pass through Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport, Kuril Bishwa Road, Natunbazar, Badda, Rampura Bridge, Abul Hotel in Malibagh, Khilgaon, Basabo, Mugda, Sayedabad.

The BNP's like-minded parties and alliances have programs in the capital as well.
