Amar Bangladesh Party (AB Party) held a press briefing at its central office expressing solidarity with the one-point demand for the regime to quit and hand-over power to an interim election-time government immediately.

Mojibur Rahman Monju, member secretary of the party, in his written briefing, said that AB Party announced, in last December, its anti-government movement based on two-point demands: firstly, free, fair, credible election under a non-partisan election-time government, if necessary under the supervision of UN and/or other development partners and secondly, rebuilding the state institutions to better serve the people.

AB Party would be raising similar concerns with the visiting Exploratory Mission from the European Union on coming Saturday afternoon, according to a press release issued on Wednesday.

AFM Solaiman Chowdhury said: “Our history is a witness that no election would be free, fair and credible without being held under a caretaker government which the AB Party supports. Furthermore, we do not believe that any meaningful change would happen in the change of government without overhauling the state institutions to suit the need and time.

“We believe that the government and ruling party would regain their good sense and leave power for the greater interest of the country and nation,” Monju added.

At the end, he announced a protest meeting and demonstration on Friday afternoon in support of the two-point demands.
