Road Transport and Bridges Minister and Awami League General Secretary Obaidul Quader on Sunday said the collapse of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) in the national election is inevitable.

The minister, in an event at Dhaka University's TSC Auditorium, accused BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir of spreading rumours ahead of election time.

The event was held on the occasion of the 103rd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman and National Children's Day.

Regarding the controversy surrounding a Prothom Alo report, Quader stated that media licences would be revoked in developed countries if children were exploited in the name of making a report.

The event was presided over by Dhaka University Chhatra League President Mazharul Kabir Shayan, with speeches from Central Chhatra League President Saddam Hussain, General Secretary Sheikh Wali Asif Enan, and Dhaka University Chhatra League General Secretary Tanvir Hasan Saikat.

The minister of road transport and bridges also distributed prizes to winners of a drawing and writing competition.
