“So far, no application has been received from BNP to hold a political rally in this ground. The DSCC will take a decision in this regard only after receiving the application,” said DSCC's public relation officer Abu Naser.

In a press release, he said a project titled “Dhaka South City Corporation's various infrastructure developments (MEGA)” is underway for the development of Golapbagh playground.

Under the project, the playground has been prepared for sports only, along with the development of boundary walls and fences, pavilions, dressing rooms, basketball grounds, drains, walkways, Pathagar Bhawan (library building), bazaar (market building) etc.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has allowed the opposition BNP to hold a rally on the Golapbagh ground in the Sayedabad area of Dhaka from 12pm to 4:30pm on Saturday.

DMP granted the permission on Friday after the party submitted an application.

Meanwhile, BNP activists have started converging on the Golapbagh ground in the Sayedabad area after getting permission from the police to hold the party's mass rally.
