Hanif: Awami League not frightened of anyone

He alleged that the BNP does not recognize the development activities carried out by the government but only talks about loadshedding

Awami League Joint General Secretary Mahbubul Alam Hanif has said that the Awami League is not frightened of anyone.

He said that the BNP thinks it has done something extraordinary by holding a few rallies.

“The people of the country will not vote the corrupt Khaleda Zia and Tarique Rahman to power,” he said at the party council of Comilla Sadar South Upazila Parishad on Saturday.

He alleged that the BNP does not recognize the development activities carried out by the government but only talks about loadshedding.

Terming BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir a liar, Hanif said that the BNP leader had said that the foreign exchange reserves of the country were gone.

“There is light above the head, and they – holding lamps in their hands – say there is no electricity in the country,” the AL leader said.

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal, who is president of the local unit of the AL, said that Bangladesh is in a better position than many other countries in the world. He admitted, though, that the country is going through temporary difficulties.

He said that Bangladesh is moving forward and will not go back to where it was during the BNP regime.

“Where do you want to take Bangladesh," he questioned the BNP.
