A seminar of the Awami League's Science and Technology Subcommittee on the Fourth Industrial Revolution has received an overwhelming response, with papers submitted by globally and nationally acclaimed academics and experts.
State Minister for ICT Zunaid Ahmed Palak and Engineer Md Abdus Sabur, the Awami League's science and technology secretary, among others, will attend the seminar set to be held next month at the Institution of Engineers, Bangladesh, said a press release issued on Tuesday.
As many as 578 authors submitted their research papers on different topics centring on the Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR), mostly to complement the ruling party's efforts to build on the pledge of “Smart Bangladesh”.
They include researchers from Silicon Valley IT companies, Imperial College London, Australia's Monash University, Canada's McMaster University and the University of Calgary, the US' UT Arlington, etc.
Awami League's Science and Technology Secretary Md Abdus Sabur said the party believed that the conference would provide an opportunity to policymakers, scientists and researchers to share knowledge among themselves. “The conference will help build a knowledge- and technology-based society.”
The conference aims to provide a unique opportunity for professionals, scientists, engineers, educators, researchers and students to share their views and thoughts on both the innovative drives of the government and exploring emerging technologies that can help achieve the “Smart Bangladesh” dream by 2041.
Calling Bangladesh a role model for sustainable growth through digitalization, the organizers believe the country is progressing rapidly, and to address the course of future progress such initiatives stand as a pointer to the party's strive for chartering out timely ideas to shape its visions.
Other political parties, including the BNP, had not arranged any event of such magnitude, they said.
They said that thanks to Sajeeb Wazed Joy, the prime minister's ICT adviser, Bangladesh now made a sizable profit by providing a variety of services to foreign customers.
