Renewing her call to the main opposition BNP, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina urged them to join the parliament and place their proposals on upcoming national polls procedure to hammer out ongoing political standoff.
The premier came up with the call while addressing party’s Kishorganj district chapter leaders at Ganabhaban on Saturday, two days after BNP’s call for holding dialogue to reach a consensus on poll-time interim government in a bid to hold a neutral and impartial election participated by all political parties.
Addressing BNP leaders, she said: “Join the Parliament and place your proposals. I am assuring you that no Magura and February 15- type elections will be held in the country again.”
“All elections that held under the incumbent government were free, fair and credible,” Hasina claimed adding, “People’s constitutional and voting right will be protected under any circumstances. People will determine who to assume the power.”
Meanwhile, she requested opposition BNP to shun the politics of destruction that killed innocent people and destroy public property.
She claimed: “People of the country are now living in peace as the government became successful to free the nation from militancy and fundamentalism.”
“But, Khaleda Zia cannot tolerate the progress. Only Allah knows what could make her happy,” questioned Hasina.
Later, Kishorganj district unit AL acting president Syed Wahidul Islam addressed the view-exchange meeting while acting general secretary MA Afzal placed the organisational report.
Among others, Party leaders Kazi Zafarullah, Alauddin Ahmed, Syed Ashraful Islam, Mahabub-Ul-alam Hanif, Ahmod Hossain, AFM Bahauddin Nasim, and Faridunahar Layli were present.
Earlier, BNP on Thursday alleged that the government was making “practically impossible” the day-to-day political activities of the opposition.
Meanwhile, the party reiterated its call for a dialogue to reach a consensus on poll-time interim government to hold a neutral and impartial election participated by all political parties.
