AL MP Harun’s business fined 2L for not renewing ECC

The Department of Environment (DoE) fined an inland container depot on charges of running operations without the renewal of Environmental Clearance Certificate (ECC).

The errant depot was identified as Incontrade Ltd, located at Laldiar Char in East Patenga of Chittagong.

DoE Director (Chittagong Metro) Mohammad Nurullah Noori imposed the fine after a hearing at his office on Thursday.

Following a media report, DoE Inspector Abul Mansur Molla visited the inland container depot on September 2.

During the inspection, the DoE official found that the enterprise did not apply for renewing the ECC after May 11, 2017.

On September 2, three workers were burnt to death on the spot while another succumbed to his injuries on the way to hospital when the fuel tank of a lorry exploded at the inland container depot.
