BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia will disclose an elaborated version of its previously unveiled “Vision 2030” on May 10, which will outline their future action plans to turn the country into what the party says will be a "rainbow nation" to create a political culture where all people of varying opinions can peacefully co-exist.
BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the comment at Square Hospitals in Dhaka on Friday, after visiting the ailing Sahera Hossain, wife of late party secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain, reports the Bangla Tribune.
Sahera, aged 75, has been on life support since Tuesday as she has been suffering from various complications of old age.
Fakhrul said: “Vision 2030 will feature what BNP will do to turn the country into a developed nation, if elected.
“Our chairperson will announce the action plans in a press conference on May 10, but we are yet to determine where the press conference will be held.”
He, however, hoped to be able to fix the venue soon.
Asked about interference of the executive in the judiciary, the top BNP leader replied: “We keep on saying that the judicial system cannot work properly in countries where democracy is non-functional.
“Unfortunately, many did not realise it. Now, the facts that democracy is absent in the country and the judiciary cannot work independently have become clear to all, with the chief justice himself saying the same thing."
