Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Anisul Huq has said the decision of issuing bail to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in graft case lies completely with the court.
“The judiciary used to be controlled by government during BNP tenure, but the situation is not the same. Judiciary is completely independent now,” he said, reports
The minister made the statement while addressing the inaugural function of 21st special training course for government pleaders (GP) and public prosecutors (PP) at Judicial Administration Training Institute (JATI) in Dhaka on Tuesday.
Regarding reformation of Land Survey Act, the law minister said the act would be raised at next parliament session, and once it is reformed, senior assistant judges and assistant judges too would be able to conduct the concerned trial alongside a joint district judge.
Advising GPs and PPs to carryout their duties for expanding the idea of Access to Justice, Anisul said they have to assist the case management process while complying with court’s direction.
