A new committee of Socialist Intellectual Sanga was formed at the auditorium of Centre for Advanced Research in Humanities, Dhaka University, on Friday morning.
Professor Emeritus Serajul Islam Chowdhury has been made the convener of the committee, said a press release issued by poet Hasan Fakri.
Writers, poets, Marxist thinkers and political personalities were present at the function.
Serajul Islam said Marxism had made revolutionary contributions to Bangla literature, culture and politics.
The members of the association will bear the torch of Marxism to abolish injustice from the society, he said .
Capitalism is causing more and more problems as it spreads across the globe. Now, the duty of an intellectual is to fight against it, he added.
