Jatiya Oikya Front convener Dr Kamal Hossain on Wednesday said their alliance is cent percent united with the country's 160 million people.
He came up with the remarks while addressing a preparatory meeting of Gono Forum's 5th National Council at the party's Arambagh office in Dhaka on Wednesday, reports UNB.
"Our Jatiya Oikya Front is cent percent united. Our unity is forged with the country's 16 million people," he said.
He said the role of the people is the ultimate in a democracy.
Dr Kamal said: “I want to thank the media present here. I think you [media] have a greater role to play now to disseminate information to the public to ensure their engagement in politics.”
He added, the public are the real owners of the country and everyone has to work together to protect the national interest.
Dr Kamal further said: "I visited many places and found our alliance's unity intact and it will be consolidated in the days to come."
He, however, did not make any comment whether his party Gono Forum's two MPs-elect will join parliament or not.
He said their alliance's aim is to gather strength further involving all and give it an institutional shape.
