The JaPa chief said the election-time government would be formed as per the constitution

Jatiya Party Chairman HM Ershad on Sunday said his party would take part in the next general election independently if BNP boycotted it, reported UNB.

“We will participate in the election in alliance with Awami League if BNP joins it. However, we will take part in it independently if the party boycotts it. This is our current political stand," he said while talking to reporters at Kurigram circuit house.

Ershad, a former military ruler, said the election-time government would be formed as per the constitution where there will be seven or eight ministers from his party.

Coming down hard on BNP, he said the party had tortured him. “I was in jail for six years. They had also jailed my wife, son and daughter without committing any crime. It is difficult to forget this,” he said.

MP from Kurigram -1 constituency AKM Mostafizur Rahman and MP from Kurigram-3 constituency Akkas Ali Sarker were also present on the occasion.
