Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina’s Political Advisor HT Imam has urged government officials to work towards arranging a participatory and fair general election.

He was speaking at a get-together and discussion meeting on the occasion of the seventh anniversary of the 29th BCS cadres, held at Bangladesh Civil Service Administration Academy auditorium on Friday.

The general election is scheduled to be held in December this year.

HT Imam said: “All BCS cadres have to work together to achieve developed country status by 2041. A good environment is required for that, and administrators of the government can play an important role in this matter.”

“You all have to work routinely to achieve this goal. Our enemy has increased in number, both at home and abroad. They want to destroy our country, not Awami League. We have to remain alert,” he added.

He also said administrators, especially BCS admin and police cadres, played important roles in the country's Liberation War.

“I urge you to follow your predecessors, and work together for the well being of the country. You can play a vital role here,” said HT Imam.

In the program, a 51 member committee was formed for the 29th BCS cadres, with Momtaz Begum Momo, senior assistant secretary, as president and Amit Kumar Chakrabarty, executive engineer of Roads and Highways department, as general secretary. The committee will serve for the next two years.
