Awami League president and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has met with Bangladesh Chhatra League leaders who are vying for president and general secretary posts.
She met with 169 aspirants at her official residence Ganabhaban on Wednesday evening. The meeting stated around 7pm and continued till 11:30pm.
During the meeting, the prime minister asked aspirants for their opinions about the upcoming committee and around 90 aspirants shared their views with her.
Later, she asked if the activists had a recommendation for the new president and general secretary, but all the aspirants said that her choice would be their choice, said sources from the meeting.
Sheikh Hasina asked the Chhatra League leaders whether they will accept the new president and general secretary that she will pick, a president candidate said, wishing to remain unnamed.
In response, all Chhatra League leaders said that they will accept the prime minister’s choice.
The prime minister urged all Chhatra League leaders to work together for the upcoming general elections.
She said that after getting the new committee, Chhatra League should work for party candidates.
