District and metropolitan BNP will work together in Khulna City Corporation polls to ensure the victory of the Dhaner Shish symbol and to ensure a free and fair election.
The announcement was made at a joint meeting held on Monday at the party office at KD Ghosh road.
The meeting disclosed that BNP will guard the polls centres along with the public on May 15 to make sure no one can influence the election with threats or bribes.
The joint meeting was presided over by BNP National Executive Committee member and BNP Khulna district unit President SM Shafiqul Alam Mona. BNP Central Organizing Secretary and KCC polls Dhaner Shish symbol candidate Nazrul Islam Monju. Among others KCC Mayor Moniruzzaman Moni and BNP city unit Vice-Chairman Shahruzzaman Murtoza were present at the meeting.
SM Shafiqul Alam Mona was given the duty of election organizer for the 20-party alliance led by BNP. BNP formed an election management committee for the KCC polls. Shahruzzaman Murtoza was declared as convener, Amir Ezaz Khan as member secretary and district BNP senior leaders as members of the committee.
A proposal was made to create 11 more sub-committees. The meeting disclosed the committee will work to encourage all 493,000 voters to vote for the Dhaner Shish symbol. Top leaders of BNP will go to Khulna from Dhaka to join the Khulna City Corporation election campaign.
BNP stressed that winning the polls is necessary for them to attain the goal of freeing their leader, BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia and to bring Tarique Rahman back to the country and to ensure a free and fair election.
Among the metropolitan BNP leaders Zafarullah Khan, Jalil Khan Kalam and Shariful Islam Babu were present at the meeting.
