Bangladesh Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal has called for processions protesting the capture of its president, Shafiul Bari Babu, in different parts of the country, including Dhaka, on March 7.
Acting President Mustafizur Rahman and General Secretary Abdul Quader Bhuiyan Jewel have condemned the government for arresting Jatiyatabadi Swechchhasebak Dal President Shafiul Bari Babu from in front of the National Press Club while the organization was holding a human chain demanding BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia's release from prison.
In a press release, the acting president and the general secretary said: "By arresting leaders of BNP and BNP affiliated organizations, this government is proving that they want to use the state's power to eradicate the existence of BNP and other opposition parties, and secure its ultimate power in that way.
"President Shafiul Bari Babu is a victim of political vengeance," continued the organization leaders. "The case against him is fake and untruthful. We demand a withdrawal of all cases and his immediate and unconditional release."
