Three people have been killed in a collision between a pickup truck and a motorcycle in Dhanbari, Tangail. One person was injured in the accident.
The incident occurred around 7am on Thursday in the Bot Tola area of Bilaspur in the upazila.
The deceased have been identified as: Al-Amin, 30, son of Zinnat Ali from Char area, Ward 5, Melandaha upazila, Jamalpur; Swapan Mia, 35, son of Md. Aminul from Char Palisha area; and Md Jewel, 32, son of the late Nur Islam from Hasil Monikabari area of Jamalpur Sadar upazila.
According to police, the motorcycle, which had departed from Jamalpur, was heading toward the Ghatail cantonment in Tangail. When the motorcycle reached Bot Tola in the Bilaspur area along the Tangail-Jamalpur regional road, it collided head-on with a pickup truck heading toward Jamalpur.
As a result, the pickup driver, the motorcycle rider, and a passenger on the motorcycle died on the spot. One person was critically injured. The injured motorcycle passenger was later sent to Mymensingh Medical College Hospital.
Sub-Inspector Akram Hossain of Dhanbari Police Station told this correspondent that the bodies of the deceased have been brought to the station and legal procedures are underway. Both the pickup truck and the motorcycle have been brought to the station.
