Bangladeshi restaurateur wins Best Takeaway in North London

Iftekar Hossain’s restautant Joe & ‘Za has been awarded the Best Takeaway in North London at the British Takeaway Awards 2017. The 27-year-old entrepreneur came to the UK from Bangladesh as a student in 2010 and graduated in marketing from the Greenwich University. The gourmet pizzeria beat other takeaways across North-East London and won £1,000 in prize money. Joe & ‘Za are not only a successful business but strong advocates of preventing food wastage and offer unsold meals at a lower price. They also work with local charities that provide social welfare support and education to youth and the homeless. Iftekar is delighted to be acknowledged for his contribution towards the local communities and the British economy. He said: "We are thrilled to have won Best Takeaway in North London. We take pride in the food we make, use the freshest ingredients possible and go the extra mile to provide a friendly service and timely delivery for our customers.” A panel of judges, including celebrity chef Ainsley Harriott, was impressed by Joe & ‘Za’s menu which consists of authentic pizzas made using the traditional Italian, hand-thrown technique. The British Takeaway Awards in association with Just Eat, a leading marketplace for online food delivery, recognize and champion the efforts of local takeaways across the UK.
