After a month of the busiest time for family members, BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman's wife, Dr Zubaida Rahman, will leave Dhaka for London on Thursday morning to celebrate Eid-ul-Azha with her husband and daughter in London.

Zubaida is scheduled to leave for London on a Qatar Airways flight at 11am.

She has already departed for Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport from her residence in Gulshan.

Earlier, she returned to the country after 17 years with BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.

Zubaida left Dhaka with Tarique on September 11, 2008.

On September 26 of the same year, the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) filed a case against them at Kafrul police station on charges of acquiring wealth disproportionate to their known sources of income.

A Dhaka court sentenced Zubaida to three years in prison and fined her Tk35 lakh in the case.

However, her sentence was suspended following the fall of the Sheikh Hasina government in the student-public uprising last year.

Zubaida earned her MBBS degree from Dhaka Medical College. Later, she studied medicine at Imperial College London and completed her MSc with record marks and a gold medal.

Before joining the health cadre, Zubaida married Tarique on February 3, 1994, and later topped the Bangladesh Civil Service (BCS) examination in 1995.

Tarique and Zubaida have a daughter named Zaima Rahman, who completed her Bar-at-Law degree in the UK and currently lives there with her parents.
