Bangladesh Meteorological Department asked authorities to hoist cautionary signal four at maritime ports due to the formation of a depression that turned into a deep depression on Saturday over the North Bay. But they said the deep depression is less likely to turn into a cyclone.
Meterologist Md. Rashadduzzaman, said: “There is a less chance that we will face a cyclone as the wind is moving close toward land. By tomorrow morning, we will face heavy wind and rainfall.
According to a special weather bulletin issued by the Met Office on Saturday afternoon, the current location of the deep depression is about 630km from Chittagong port, 595km from Cox’s Bazar port, 495km from Mongla port and 895km from Payra port.
The Met Office also advised all fishing boats and trawlers in the North Bay and deep sea to take shelter and remain there until further notice.
