Mir Shahe Alam, state minister for LGRD, has expressed regret over the arrest of acting editor of Dainik Aagrojatra Protidin, Rezanur Islam, in a case filed over a news report.

The state minister said he hopes all concerned parties will resolve the matter through mutual discussion and legal procedures, and that the arrested journalist will be released soon, according to statement issued on Friday.

The release said that “various misinformation” regarding Shahe Alam had recently been circulating on social media and other platforms. It also urged that no one should initiate any case, statement, or action using his name or claiming to act on his behalf without authorization.

It further said the minister has not given any approval or instruction for such activities.

The minister also called on journalists to verify information independently before publishing reports about him.

Reacting to the incident, he noted that the complainant in the case is also a journalist and the elected treasurer of the Bogra Press Club. He urged all sides to exercise restraint to avoid misunderstanding or tension within the journalist community.

The statement added that the minister expected a peaceful and acceptable resolution of the issue with the cooperation of all concerned.
