Road accident kills activist of banned Chhatra League 

He was being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way

Rajon Islam, an activist of the banned student organization Bangladesh Chhatra League, was killed in a road accident in Mirpur upazila of Kushtia on Saturday morning.

The accident took place under a railway bridge on Mirpur Thana Road, confirmed the Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Mirpur Police Station. The deceased, Rajon, was the son of Mojibur Rahman from Mohishakhola village in Chithlia Union of the upazila.

According to police and local sources, Rajon was transporting tobacco to Kushtia on an illegally operated shallow engine-driven vehicle when it collided with the railway bridge, leaving him critically injured. He was rescued and first taken to Kushtia General Hospital. As his condition deteriorated, he was being taken to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital, but he died on the way.

Mirpur Police Station’s Officer-in-Charge Md Shahidul Islam said that one person was killed after the vehicle crashed into the railway bridge. Police have been sent to the scene, and legal procedures are currently underway.
