Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan has said that the government started working for the welfare of the people immediately after assuming office.

“Following the formation of the government, work aimed at public welfare started immediately. As part of election commitments, distribution of farmer cards and family cards has already started. Considering priorities, rural infrastructure development projects have also been initiated,” he said.

He made these remarks on Saturday afternoon while talking to journalists after the inauguration of a bridge built over the Jhinai River in the Dapnajor area of Basail upazila in Tangail.

The minister further stated that development activities will gradually expand across the country under the current government. “We started with almost nothing. From that position, we are trying to move forward. Despite having insufficient funds in the government treasury, we are continuing our development activities,” he added.

He expressed the hope that the newly inaugurated bridge would ease transportation for local residents. He also mentioned plans to develop a four-lane road from Bhatkura to Nolua and to address traffic congestion in Basail Bazar by constructing a bypass road.

Among others present at the event were Upazila Nirbahi Officer Aklima Begum, LGED Executive Engineer Mohammad Kamruzzaman, former joint secretary of district BNP Abul Kashem, acting president of upazila BNP Mamun Al Jahangir, and general secretary Advocate Nur Nabi Abu Hayat Khan Babu.
