Liberation War Affairs Minister Ahmed Azam Khan on Tuesday said the government is pursuing a strict zero-tolerance policy against corruption and has instructed officials at all administrative levels to maintain transparency and accountability.
“We have made it clear to the administration that public service must remain transparent. Government officials already receive salaries, allowances, and other facilities according to their positions, so there should be no involvement in corruption or abuse of power,” he said.
He made the remarks while inaugurating Land Service Fair and speaking at a public awareness meeting held at the Basail Upazila Parishad hallroom.
Azam Khan said the government has taken steps to restore public confidence in land administration, an area long associated with irregularities and disputes.
“In the past, people often feared losing ownership of their land through manipulation during surveys or record processes. The government wants citizens to feel secure that their rightful property will remain protected,” he said.
Referring to the initiative launched by Prime Minister Tarique Rahman, the minister said the Land Service Fair was introduced to ensure faster, transparent, and citizen-friendly land services across the country.
He added that the government remains committed to improving public services and preventing harassment in government offices, courts, and other institutions.
“No citizen should have to suffer while seeking services from public offices. Ensuring efficient and hassle-free service delivery is one of the government’s priorities,” he said.
The event was chaired by Basail Upazila Nirbahi Officer Iqbal Hossain. Among those present were Assistant Commissioner (Land) Mohammad Neyamat Ullah, former joint secretary of the district BNP Abul Kashem Mia, and acting president of Basail Upazila BNP Mamun Al Jahangir.
