A suspected drug dealer, Md Samu alias Dayal Bhandari, 52, has been arrested with heroin in Dhamrai upazila of Dhaka by the Dhaka District Detective Branch (DB North).
The information was confirmed in a WhatsApp message sent on Friday by Saeedul Islam, Officer-in-Charge (OC) of DB (North), Dhaka District.
According to police, the arrest was made during a drive conducted around 8:00 pm on Thursday in the Kawakhola area under Dhamrai police station.
The arrested person, Md Samu alias Dayal Bhandari, is a resident of Kawakhola (Hatkora) village under Gangutia Union in the upazila.
Based on confidential information, law enforcement officials carried out the operation and recovered four grams of heroin from his possession, with an estimated value of Tk 40,000.
DB (North) officials also stated that the accused has a criminal record, including three cases filed against him, one of which is a murder case.
Police have filed a case under the Narcotics Control Act with Dhamrai Police Station and sent the accused to court.
