Two drug dealers were arrested with a large cache of contraband during a drive conducted by Rapid Action Battalion in Maheshpur upazila of Jhenaidah early on Friday.
The arrested men were identified as Sabuj Hossain, 33, and Mohasin Ali, 32.
The operation was carried out by members of RAB-6, CPC-2, Jhenaidah Camp as part of the elite force’s ongoing anti-narcotics campaign under its “zero tolerance” policy against drugs.
Confirming the matter, Squadron Leader Imamim Mubeen Sarkar Suman said the raid was conducted around 5:45 am following a tip-off. A special team set up a checkpoint on a road in front of Alhaj Mofiz Uddin Academy High School in Samanta village under Maheshpur Police Station.
During the operation, RAB personnel stopped a motorcycle carrying two sacks between two riders. After searching the bags in the presence of witnesses, the team recovered 596 bottles of Skaf syrup and 20 bottles of Phensedyl. The motorcycle used in transporting the drugs was also seized.
The suspects and seized items were later handed over to Maheshpur Police Station for further legal proceedings.
