A Mymensingh court has sentenced five men to life imprisonment for killing a farmer over a land dispute in 2012.
Additional Sessions Judge Md Samsuddin delivered the verdict on Sunday, also fining each convict Tk 1 lakh, with one year’s additional jail in default, report UNB.
According to the prosecution, the violence erupted on October 14, 2012, when the accused attacked Ahmed Ali and his family in a paddy field in Haluaghat. Several people were injured, and Habibur Rahman later died from his wounds.
The case was filed against 25 people, but the court acquitted 20 due to lack of evidence.
