A local leader of the Jatiyatabadi Tanti Dal was stabbed to death by unidentified miscreants in Khulna’s Khalishpur area early Sunday.
The deceased was identified as Md Sona Mia (38), son of Jabbar Sardar, resident of Nayabati area.
He was convener of Ward No 10 of Khalishpur unit of the Tanti Dal.
The incident took place around 12:10am in the Noyabati area under Khalishpur Police Station. Sona Mia was reportedly attacked with sharp weapons, leaving him critically injured, particularly on his right arm.
Locals rushed him to Khulna Medical College Hospital, where the on-duty doctor declared him dead at approximately 12:45am after examination.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khalishpur Police Station Md Touhiduzzaman said the body has been recovered and kept at the hospital morgue. It will be handed over to the family following an autopsy on Sunday.
“The motive behind the killing is yet to be determined. Efforts are underway to identify and arrest those involved,” the OC added.
