A youth was allegedly stabbed to death in the capital’s Shyamoli area early Sunday. Police have arrested two people in connection with the incident.
The deceased was identified as Ruhul Amin, 22, hailed from Kishoreganj and had been living on the streets in Shyamoli.
The arrestees are Alamin alias Babu and Russel.
Sub-Inspector of Mohammadpur Police Station Md Mominul Islam said four to five people, including Alamin and Russel, assaulted and stabbed Ruhul Amin around 3:00am in the Shyamoli area. They also allegedly took money from him.
Ruhul Amin was rescued and taken to Pangu Hospital where doctors declared him dead. Police later recovered his body and sent it to the mortuary of Shaheed Suhrawardy Medical College Hospital. An autopsy was conducted there on Sunday.
Police said Ruhul’s mother, Asma Begum, filed a case over the incident. The two arrested suspects were later produced before a court.
