Bangladesh Coast Guard ensures coastal security ahead of 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum 2026.

Coast Guard personnel have been deployed across coastal and riverine areas to maintain law and order and ensure overall security ahead of the 13th National Parliamentary Election and Referendum 2026.

The information was disclosed on Wednesday morning by Lieutenant Commander Siyam-ul-Haque, Media Officer of the Bangladesh Coast Guard, according to a press release.

Siyam-ul-Haque stated that the Bangladesh Coast Guard is fully committed to ensuring that the upcoming national election and referendum, scheduled for 12 February 2026, are conducted in a free, fair, peaceful, and credible manner. In this regard, Coast Guard personnel have been deployed from 18 January to 14 February 2026, covering a total of 28 days, to operate as Mobile Teams and Striking Forces in remote, coastal, and strategically important riverine areas.

As part of the security measures, Bangladesh Coast Guard units under the Dhaka Zone are conducting special surveillance, regular patrols, and rapid response operations at 39 polling centers located in vulnerable and sensitive areas of Narayanganj, Matlab (North), Chandpur Sadar, and Haimchar upazilas. These efforts are aimed at creating a secure, orderly, and festive voting environment for the electorate.

It is noteworthy that the Interim Government has arranged a referendum alongside the National Parliamentary Election on the same day with the objective of establishing a future Bangladesh founded on accountability and public welfare. In this context, the Bangladesh Coast Guard is actively disseminating information on the referendum among men and women of all ages, professions, and social groups within its areas of responsibility, encouraging citizens to participate and cast a “Yes” vote in support of building a new Bangladesh.

In addition to maintaining law and order during the election period, the Bangladesh Coast Guard remains fully alert and prepared to safeguard the voting rights of the general public and to prevent any form of violence. By extending support to other law enforcement agencies and the local administration, the Coast Guard will continue its comprehensive efforts to ensure the safety and security of lives and property of people of all communities, regardless of religion or background, within the Dhaka Zone.

The Bangladesh Coast Guard remains committed to the nation to fostering an environment conducive to holding a free, fair, and impartial election and will remain ever vigilant in the discharge of its constitutional duties—Insha’Allah.
