One Killed in wild elephant attack in Naikhongchhari

Naikhongchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Baten Mridha said an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident

A tubewell mechanic was killed in an attack by a wild elephant in Baishari Union of Naikhongchhari upazila in Bandarban on Saturday.

The deceased was identified as Abdus Salam, 30. The incident occurred around 6:30am in the Titapara area of Lambabil under Ward No. 6 of Baishari Union.

According to eyewitnesses and local sources, a wild elephant suddenly entered a residential area in the early hours of the morning. At one stage, the animal became agitated by barking dogs and began chasing people. While trying to flee, Abdus Salam fell to the ground, and the elephant trampled him, killing him on the spot.

Naikhongchhari Police Station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Md Abdul Baten Mridha said an unnatural death case has been filed in connection with the incident. He added that the Forest Department would provide assistance to the victim’s family.
