Two tourists, including a woman, were killed after their motorcycle lost control and fell into a deep ditch in the Pepe Bagan area of the Bogalake road in Ruma, Bandarban.
The accident occurred on the early hours of Friday.
The deceased were identified as Md Zamir Uddin, 30, from Char Borhanuddin in Bhola, and Rupaiya Akter Rupa, 31, from Gazipur in Dhaka.
After receiving the information, police and members of a local tourist guide group recovered the bodies and took them to Ruma Hospital.
Bandarban Superintendent of Police Md Wahabul Islam Khandaker said the tourists had gone sightseeing without hiring a local tourist guide. After locals informed authorities, their bodies were recovered from the deep ditch beside the road.
Police are investigating the incident. The bodies have been sent to the Bandarban Sadar Hospital morgue for autopsies.
