A farmer named Nurul Islam Talukdar, 55 has been brutally killed in Sherpur upazila of Bogra. He had been missing since Thursday night.
Police recovered his body from a paddy field in Langolmora village of Shimabari Union on Saturday afternoon, said Sherpur Police Station Inspector (Investigation) Zainal Abedin.
According to police and witnesses, Nurul Islam, son of late Yasin Ali Talukdar of Nishchintapur village in Mathurapur Union of Dhunat upazila, earned his living through farming. He went out from home around 8pm on Friday and did not return.
Inspector Zainal Abedin said miscreants took him to the spot, then stabbed or pierced his right eye with a sharp knife or iron rod and cut off his left ear, killing him. They took away both the eye and the ear after the murder.
The body has been sent to the morgue of Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZRMC) Hospital in Bogra. Police are investigating to identify those involved, and preparations are underway to file a case.
