A tourist was killed as his motorcycle plunged into a deep gorge on the Thanchi–Alikadam road in Bandarban on Friday afternoon. The deceased was identified as Ajoy Barua, 28, son of Chipu Barua, of Chandanaish upazila in Chittagong.
According to local sources, the accident occurred in Damtoyar area when his motorcycle skidded off and fell into a deep gorge. Locals rescued him and took him to Alikadam Health Complex, where the attending doctors declared him dead.
Dr. Md. Hasan, the residential medical officer at Alikadam Health Complex, said that the victim lost control of his motorcycle while travelling from Alikadam to Thanchi and fell into a deep mountain gorge, leaving him dead on the spot. His body has been handed over to his family.
