National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhtar Hossain on Sunday said that the NCP wants to establish a kind of politics where there is no room for criminal activities or the influence of money.
He said: “When we arrived in Naogaon with our march, there was a huge public turnout. The city resounded with slogans. However, the condition of the inner roads of Naogaon is very poor. As a district, Naogaon has some unique needs and potential. Infrastructure development here is urgently needed.”
“We spoke to locals about the steps needed to reduce unemployment and improve living standards. We hope Naogaon will become a stronghold for the NCP,” he added.
Highlighting the response from the people of Naogaon, Akhtar said the NCP has gained equal traction across northern Bangladesh and throughout the rest of the country.
“From rickshaw pullers to working-class people, many have received the NCP’s message. The notion that the NCP is only a party for the youth was dispelled here in Naogaon. Elderly, middle-aged, men and women alike have joined us. Even members of martyrs’ families came to us, which made us happy,” he said.
He also said that a coordination committee of the NCP has been formed in Naogaon.
“The leaders here are continuing their efforts to bring more people into the fold. We are hopeful that the way we have expanded in Naogaon will help us move forward. We have instructed local leaders and activists to reach out to the general public and highlight the need to rebuild the country in a new way,” Akhtar added.
