A head-on collision between a passenger bus and a stone-laden truck in the Purbo Bongram area of Pabna's Santhia upazila on the Pabna-Dhaka highway left three people dead and at least 10 others injured early on Friday.
The accident occurred around 5:30am, according to Madhpur Highway police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Mostafizur Rahman.
The deceased were Abed Ali, 38, and Monsur Ali, 40, the OC said.
The identity of the third deceased is yet to be confirmed, he added.
The injured have been admitted to Pabna General Hospital.
Mostafizur said that a passenger bus named Pabna Express was travelling toward Pabna from Narayanganj.
In the Purbo Bongram area, the passenger bus collided head-on with a stone-laden truck coming from the opposite direction, resulting in the immediate death of three passengers, he added.
Upon receiving the news, Madhpur highway police rushed to the scene, recovered the bodies, and sent the injured to the hospital.
The OC said preliminary investigations suggest that the bus driver may have fallen asleep, causing the accident.
An investigation is underway, he added.
