Update : 17 May 2025, 11:48 AM

The victim’s mother has expressed her inability to accept the acquittal of three accused in the rape and murder case of her eight-year-old daughter in Magura.

In the verdict, the court sentenced the main accused, Hitu Sheikh, to death, while the three others were acquitted.

The victim’s mother and plaintiff in the case expressed dissatisfaction with the verdict. She said: “Although Hitu Sheikh has been sentenced to death, the other three accused have been acquitted. We cannot accept this verdict.”

Monirul Islam Mukul, the public prosecutor (PP) of Magura's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal, said: “The plaintiff is not satisfied with this verdict. Therefore, we will decide through discussion whether to appeal this verdict in the higher court.”

Earlier, on Saturday, Judge M Zahid Hasan of Magura's Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict.

Three people have been acquitted in the verdict. They are the victim’s sister’s husband, his brother, and their mother.
