A clash broke out between two rival groups over establishing dominance in Zajira of Shariatpur, during which at least 100 hand bombs were detonated.

The incident occurred on Saturday morning in the Durbadanga area of Bilaspur Union under the upazila. However, no casualties have been reported so far.

According to local sources and police, there has been a long-standing dispute over dominance between the supporters of Bilaspur Union Chairman Kuddus Bepari and Swechchhasebak League leader Jalil Madbar.

Several clashes have taken place in the past over this issue. On Saturday morning, a minor incident in Durbadanga triggered another violent clash between the two groups.

During the conflict, more than 100 hand bombs were exploded. Police later arrived at the scene and brought the situation under control.

Meanwhile, a 15-second video of the clash and hand bomb explosions has gone viral on social media platform Facebook.

In the video, members of both groups can be seen facing off in an open field. Many are holding buckets and helmets.

Hand bombs are being thrown from the buckets, followed by loud explosions and smoke.

Attempts to contact Kuddus Bepari and Jalil Madbar for comments were unsuccessful as their phones were found switched off.

When asked, Zajira Police Station Officer-in-Charge Dulal Akhand said that the clash took place over a dispute for dominance. "Police rushed to the scene after receiving the news. The situation is now calm. Further legal steps will be taken regarding the matter," he added.
