Two Bangladeshis were injured by gunfire from Myanmar's Arakan Army at the Tumbru border in Bandarban.
The incident occurred around midnight on Friday, reports Bangla Tribune.
The injured individuals, Jahangir, 19, son of Nurul Kabir, and Hossain, son of Abdul Hakim, are both residents of Ghumdhum in Naikhongchhari.
According to locals, approximately 7-8 rounds of gunfire were fired from the Arakan Army-occupied "Graveyard Post" inside Myanmar, located east of the zero line between border pillars 34 and 35 of the Tumbru Border Outpost (BOP) under the Cox’s Bazar Battalion (34 BGB).
One Bangladeshi was shot in the leg, while the other sustained a gunshot wound to the back.
They are reportedly involved in smuggling along the border.
Jahangir has been admitted to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital, while the other injured individual received primary treatment and was subsequently discharged.
Naikhongchhari police station Officer-in-Charge (OC) Masrurul Haque said: "I have heard that two people were injured in a shooting at the Tumbru border, but no one has filed a complaint with the police. I am also unaware of their current whereabouts."
