The body of the eight-year-old child rape victim arrived at her village home in Magura on Thursday evening.
Earlier, at around 5:30pm, a helicopter of the Bangladesh Army departed from the old airport at Tejgaon in the capital carrying her body.
Present at the scene were Farida Akhter, adviser to the Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock; Sarjis Alam, chief organizer of the northern region of the National Citizen Party (NCP); Hasnat Abdullah, chief organizer of the southern region, among others.
As the Bangladesh Army helicopter landed at Magura, the child's mother and relatives broke down in tears.
In a grief-stricken voice, the mother said: “They tried to kill my child by cutting her with a blade. I want them to be hanged.”
On Thursday at 1pm, the eight-year-old child, passed away while undergoing treatment at the Combined Military Hospital (CMH) in Dhaka.
She was receiving treatment at the hospital's Pediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU).
While under treatment, she suffered four cardiac arrests on Wednesday and two more on Thursday.
