Among the six injured, Abdur Rahman Sardar, 65, his wife Shahanur Begum, 55, his daughter-in-law Khadija Akter, 32, and his younger son Moin, 18, were sent to Dhaka in a critical condition.

Abdur Rahman’s elder son, Imam Hossain Sardar, 32, and his middle son Miraj’s wife, Diba Akter, 21, are undergoing treatment at Chandpur General Hospital.

The incident occurred at a house in the Koralya area of the city while they were preparing food for Sehri.

It was initially suspected that a gas leak had caused the explosion.

Relatives reported that the family members woke up early in the morning for Sehri.

An explosion occurred when they tried to light the stove in the kitchen.

As a result, the kitchen, along with several rooms’ furniture, blankets, and mattresses, caught fire.

Neighbors assisted in extinguishing the flames.

Dr Mahmudul Hasan from Chandpur General Hospital said that those sent to Dhaka suffered burns covering 50% to 60% of their bodies.

Additionally, the two individuals receiving treatment in Chandpur sustained burns on 20% of their bodies.
