Two people were killed in a three-way collision on Saturday in the Chankanda area of the Jamalpur-Mymensingh highway in Sadar upazila.
The deceased were identifiead as Jewel Akand, 45, and Shaon Mia, 28, as confirmed by Sub-Inspector (SI) Sadekuzzaman Bhuiyan of Sadar police station.
According to police and local sources, Jewel Akand was cleaning a truck parked on the roadside in the Chankanda area when another dump truck struck him from behind, killing him on the spot.
At the same time, a motorcycle traveling in the same direction collided with the back of the truck, resulting in the death of motorcyclist Shaon Mia.
In the accident, the driver of the dump truck, Mamun Mia, sustained a broken leg.
Locals rescued him and admitted him to the hospital.
SI Sadekuzzaman Bhuiyan said that the bodies of the deceased had been recovered from the scene, and legal procedures were underway.
