Police have arrested four individuals in connection with the recent abduction of 26 workers in Lama, Bandarban.
District Superintendent of Police (SP) Shahidullah Kawsar confirmed the incident on Friday.
The arrested individuals are Shimon Tripura Nayan, son of Pitram Tripura from Remakri, Thanchi; Jackson Tripura and Prashanta Tripura, sons of Saju Tripura from Roangchhari; and Jayanta Tripura, son of Khobi Chandra Tripura from Gajalia, Lama.
According to police and local sources, 26 rubber plantation workers were abducted in Fasiakhali on Sunday.
The kidnappers held them hostage and later released them after receiving a hefty ransom from their families.
Following the incident, police launched an operation to apprehend those involved.
SP Shahidullah Kawsar said that four abductors had been arrested on Thursday from different areas of Lama and Bandarban Sadar, and operations were ongoing to capture their other accomplices.
Notably, earlier this year, seven tobacco farmers were abducted in Soroi union on January 14.
