Three members of a family sustained burn injuries in a gas cylinder explosion in Bagherpara, Madaripur district, on Sunday night.
The victims have been identified as Juwel Hawlader, 35, his wife, Tania Begum, 30, and their daughter, Sohagi Akhter, 8.
According to Sheikh Ahaduzzaman, inspector of the Madaripur Fire Service and Civil Defense Department, the explosion occurred around 8pm on Sunday when Tania Begum lit a gas stove to ignite a mosquito coil, causing injuries to the three family members.
Fire personnel rushed to the scene, rescued the victims, and transported them to Madaripur District Sadar Hospital.
Later, Tania Begum, who sustained critical injuries, was transferred to the Burn Unit in the capital for advanced treatment.
Fire service officials suspect that the explosion was caused by a gas leakage.
