The shooting of the country's popular television magazine show Ityadi in Thakurgaon was temporarily canceled following an incident of vandalism and fighting.
On Thursday evening, tensions erupted around the Rajbari in Ranisankail, Thakurgaon, during the Ityadi show, leading to vandalism.
When the situation became uncontrollable, director Hanif Sanket announced the cancellation of the show, and filming was halted.
Ultimately, the program was filmed with a smaller audience from 11pm to midnight, which organizers said had to be scaled down due to the circumstances.
It is expected to be aired on January 31, according to Ityadi sources.
Mubarak Ali, President of the Ranisankail Press Club, said that the popular show Ityadi saw fighting and chair vandalism.
The Ittadi organizers had arranged about 2,000 entry passes across the Thakurgaon district.
However, the event attracted around 100,000 people.
Eventually, chaos broke out, especially over seating arrangements, leading to vandalism and fights.
Despite multiple attempts to restore order, the situation worsened, and the show was suspended midway.
Many attendees blamed the mismanagement by the event organizers for the situation.
Several photos and footage were shared on social media, criticizing the handling of the event.
Sanwar Haider Shobuj, an attendee, said: “I had a pass for the Ityadi show, but I couldn’t enter. This happened because of the organizers’ mismanagement.”
Russell, another attendee, said: “We had expected excessive attendance, but the organizers didn’t put adequate security measures in place. This is their failure.”
However, the Ityadi organizers placed the blame for the suspension squarely on the eager crowd.
In his announcement of the show’s suspension, director Hanif Sanket said: “Despite our best efforts, we could not calm you down. We wanted to make a beautiful event for you, but it’s no longer possible. I have failed.”
When filming resumed with a smaller audience, he expressed regret, saying: “We could have organized this event at a much larger space in Thakurgaon, but since we wanted to film it at a historic and traditional location, we chose the Rajbari of Tankanath. This has turned out to be like one drop of ink in a bucket of milk.”
