Seeds, fertilizer distributed among Thakurgaon farmers

Districtwide, 22,000 farmers will benefit from the scheme

Seeds and fertilizers were distributed among small and marginal farmers under the Kharif-2 incentive program for the 2025–26 fiscal year in Thakurgaon Sadar on Tuesday.

Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Khairul Islam formally inaugurated the distribution programme in front of the Upazila Agriculture Officer’s office.

Among others, Upazila Agriculture Officer Krishibid Nasirul Alam Roni, Additional Agriculture Officer Nihar Ranjan Roy, Agricultural Extension Officer Abu Abdullah Al Mujahid, and assistant agriculture officers from different unions were present on the occasion.

Agriculture Officer Nasirul Alam Roni said a total of 7,000 farmers from 22 unions, including the municipal area of Sadar upazila, will receive agricultural inputs under the government incentive programme. Each farmer will receive 5 kg of paddy seed along with 10 kg of DAP fertilizer and 10 kg of MOP fertilizer for cultivation on one bigha of land.

Under the programme, 7,000 farmers in the upazila will receive a total of 35 metric tons of seeds and 70 metric tons of DAP and MOP fertilizers, covering 936 hectares of land.

Additional Deputy Director (Crops) of the District Department of Agricultural Extension, Alamgir Kabir, said that in the district, a total of 22,000 farmers will receive 110 metric tons of seeds and 220 metric tons of DAP and MOP fertilizers for Aman rice cultivation on 3,000 hectares of land.
